 What Springsteen????????????????????????????????????????????
Just a thought from the Land of Oz.
If I'd wanted to know what Brucie baby was doing then surely we can find out on his website This is the Website for our one and only Gene Pitney borrrriiiingggggg
Especially when I've managed to crawl out of bed after having an accident it would have been extra nice to hear more about "Our Gene" and not Springsteen!!!
Cheers Sue )

 Re: Springsteen
My apologies to all if I am missing something. I just found this thread to be very rude. Thought the post about Springsteen to be both interesting and informative, maybe because Bruce and I are orignally from the same area and enjoyed reading about old haunts. It was also posted in the Off-Topic Forum, so why is not appropriate? The way I see it we can pick what we care to read or not. As I said above, I obviously must be missing something here. I don't know who said there is no website for Springsteen. After about 30 seconds of surfing I came up with this:
http://www.brucespringsteen.com/

 IMHO
I think the point Sue and Neelia were making was this is first and foremost a Gene Pitney forum. It has only his name on it...created with input by Gene. There are currently 196 registered members who are here primarily because of their interest in Gene, his career and his music. It is a great place to share comments, concert reviews, ask music questions, etc....all connected to Gene.
So how much actual interest is there into making the off-topic section more of a "general music" area? It is not about how "big" we are, it is about the interest!! I know I can Google any other artist at any time, read their boards and post on their forums. I don't feel the need to do it on here. If I'm wrong and I don't represent the opinions of the majority of the Gene fans on here...say so. But if I'm right, please speak now so we can settle this and put this subject to rest, once and for all.
Have a great day!
IMHO,
Jazz

I maybe the odd one out here. As the saying goes, I am just putting my two cents worth in the pot here. I don't see anything wrong about discussing other celebraties in addition to Gene Pitney, as long as it is clearly marked and posted in the off topic forum.

 'Off-Topic', not 'Other singers'
The point of the Off-Topic Discussion section is for literally that: every day conversation that doesn't necessarily pertain to Gene...stuff that everybody can chat about. However, this thread is not general in any way - this is a full advertisement on Bruce Springsteen's behalf and something that is more relevant only on either his fandom sites/groups and general music forums.
The point of this whole forum is to be home to fans of GENE PITNEY, not any rock, pop or whatever band/singer. It's not about how 'big' we are, but passing reference to something that somebody can pick up on only if they choose to is very different to plugging a devoting a whole thread or whatever to some other star that we are not here in the first place to discuss. If that's the case, we might as well just let anybody join and put up tour dates for anyone etc.
We all have other interests I'm sure, but we also keep them separate.
I've not explained my opinion very well, but I hope you can understand something from it We've had this before with the Bruce Springsteen posts, and I just fail to see the relevance of it's placement here.
Hugs to all, Sketch x

 Off topic posts
OK, Sketch I see your point, especially since I am NOT the one that posted about Springsteen in the first place. I also have no idea of previous Springsteen posts, probably before my time on this board. I agree that we all must have other interests, but exactly how separate do we need to keep them? I know I previously mentioned that I am a huge Dusty Springfield fan. I also believe that there is a strong cross over with Gene Pitney and Dusty Springfield, as they were friends. I believe (could be wrong) that they performed on the same venue together. They both recorded some of the same songs including 24 Hours From Tulsa. Too bad Dusty is no longer with us, I would have to have heard a duet together with Gene and Dusty.

 Tash on Springsteen
Tash, as always, well said. Good to get a nice, calm, rational point of view on all this. Isn't it amazing how excitable we get when we feel Gene may be getting slighted in some way
Pass the peace pipe all round...except maybe skip the person who started all this

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I can't help but feel a bit sorry for CTolderfan. I think he/she? was treated rather roughly on this thread. I would be offended if I ever was treated that way, I am surprised that this person did not speak up for themselves. Wouldn't it have been nicer if it was just said please reframe from posting any long articles about others? Maybe this has been done before? OK, I've said more than enough and said more than my peace! If I was going to be picky, what's with that
Groucho signature I really do not care for it. Will say no more...promise

In defence of CTolderfan I'd just like to say that this is just an advert. It doesn't slight Gene in any way. Sure, it is using the Gene Pitney forum, but there's nothing to say that you can't advertise here, especially for a good cause such as Parkinson's. And it was placed in the appropriate area. So folks give the woman/man a break and look at it not so much as a promotion for Bruce Springstein but as awareness of a debilitating disease that could affect anyone. There but for the Grace of God and all that.
Just thought I'd put in my threepennyworth!!!!

 Marty you softy
Hi Marty, you old softy you While I may not go as far as feeling sorry for CTolderfan, I can appreciate your point of view, Some of us may have had a bit of a knee jerk reaction to the original post. BUT... in the final analysis I agree with Tash 100%.
I looked at some of CT's other posts and he/she seems to be a true Gene fan with LOTS of other interests and concert experience...also appears quite knowledgable about pop/rock history and personnel. It does seem somewhat strange that he/she hasn't offered any comment or explaination as to the intent of the original post. Might be nice to see something so we can all close the door on this and get on with our Gene stuff. CT are you out there

Gary and Saffia you are both making me break my promise here. Saffia I really like your comments, very well said. I am not so sure I am in favor of any adverts on this forum (but again that certainly is not up to me). I agree that Parkingsons is an awful disease, along with so many others. CTolderfan where are you- I think you need to speak up now as this can be put to rest. Perhaps you were chased off the board by these remarks?

Hi,
I'm not bothered.
I posted this just as a FYI and because it's a benefit. Also Southside Johnny has covered Gene's It Hurts To Be In Love in at least one concert, so there is an affinity for Gene within these groups that played. ( Southside Johnny starts a tour of England Nov 13th) I went to the Friday and Saturday shows. Both were great, with about 20 acts playing each night. Bruce did not show this year, the first year he did not make it ( he is never officially on the bill)., but it was still a great time.
